Digitising the ISCC PLUS mass balance certification processes

The digitisation of processes and systems is a clear, ongoing trend in industrial operations. Therefore ISCC certified companies and the ISCC scheme were curious to investigate how digital technologies such as blockchain could be applied to the certification process to bring benefit to all. In this project Asahi Kasei , Arçelik , Borealis , EVBox , Itochu , ISCC , Marubeni , Neste , Philips Domestic Appliances , Shell , and Trinseo came together with Circularise to explore applying digital technologies to the mass balance process.

How PRecycling made recycled plastics traceable, safe and scalable

The PRecycling project addressed a fundamental barrier to the circular economy, the lack of reliable information regarding the composition and history of plastic waste. For industries like toys and home appliances, high safety standards and complex additive profiles make using recycled content a significant technical and regulatory challenge. As the leader of the “Recyclate track and trace methodology” (WP4), Circularise implemented a decentralised traceability framework. By linking physical markers and chemical “fingerprints” to blockchain-based digital product passports, the project enabled the flow of data from waste collection to the final consumer product.

Building a transparent solar future: How Circularise and FAIR PV pioneered circularity with Digital Product Passports

The FAIR PV project confronted a critical industry paradox: the rapid growth of solar energy, essential for decarbonisation, was creating a future waste crisis and opaque supply chains. Traditional solar panels are notoriously difficult to recycle and offer no visibility into their material provenance or lifecycle performance . Partnering with Circularise, the consortium developed a dynamic Digital Product Passport (DPP) for a novel, repairable solar panel. This provided a secure, verifiable record of materials, manufacturing, and performance data across the entire value chain. The project proved that radical transparency is not only possible but is the key to enabling circular strategies like refurbishment, high-value recycling, and compliance with stringent new regulations.

Territorial circular ecosystems for end-of-life foam (Circular Foam)

From October 2021 till September 2025, Circularise participated in the project ‘Systemic expansion of territorial circular ecosystems for end-of-life foam’ (Circular Foam). Circular Foam is a multi-stakeholder research project focused on improving the circularity of high-performance plastics on the example of rigid polyurethane (PU) foams. Together with 22 leading experts in the industry, Circularise is leading the development of a system for communicating the production process data.

European recycling and circularity in large composite components (EuReComp)

Circularise is taking part in the multi-stakeholder research project, EuReComp. The project’s main goal is to enable circularity of composite materials coming from aircrafts and wind turbine blades parts, at their End-of-Life (EoL). Currently, Circularise is working with 20 leading industry experts, involving suppliers from the aerospace industry, manufacturers of the automotive and composite sectors, as well as research centres in mechanical and industrial engineering. The project is expected to take place from April 2022 until March 2026.

Rare-earth metals are irreplaceable in highly demanded products such as wind turbines, electric vehicles, mobile phones, computers and the defence industry. To address the sustainability of these products an increasing number of legislation, such as the EU battery passport regulation , are being released.
