Introduction

In 2024, DOMO Chemicals—a global leader in high-performance engineered materials—took a bold step to advance their sustainability journey: to strengthen their sustainability leadership by digitising internal traceability and achieving ISCC PLUS certification. With rising demand for sustainable products and transparency across the supply chain, DOMO needed a partner that could deliver advanced, scalable traceability across their international operations. They chose Circularise.

Together, DOMO and Circularise implemented a secure traceability system that supports sustainable manufacturing, enables regulatory compliance, and empowers circular economy practices, without compromising data confidentiality or operational efficiency.

the method

Why ISCC PLUS and mass balance matter

ISCC PLUS is a globally recognised certification system that validates the sustainable sourcing of bio-attributed and recycled materials. A key feature of the system is the mass balance approach, which allows sustainable and conventional materials to be mixed during production while maintaining full accountability and traceability of inputs and outputs. This methodology enables manufacturers to:

  1. Accurately verify the share of sustainable content in products
  2. Offer certified sustainable materials without altering production infrastructure
  3. Build trust with customers and stakeholders through credible, audit-ready data

By adopting the mass balance approach, DOMO could make a measurable shift toward more sustainable production, while aligning with global climate goals and customer expectations.

Global Reach

Scaling certification across global sites

DOMO has successfully achieved ISCC PLUS certification for key production sites in Leuna (Germany), Gorzów (Poland), Arco (Italy), and Zhejiang (China). This broadens the range of more sustainable alternatives of DOMO’s flagship TECHNYL® and DOMAMID® PA6 product lines, with no compromise on technical performance. Full traceability from input to output along the production chain is facilitated by the Circularise platform.

Circularise’s platform provided:

  1. A centralised system to implement mass balance traceability
  2. Audit-ready records and detailed reporting dashboards
  3. Custom demo and production environments tailored to ISCC workflows
  4. On-site and virtual training to prepare teams for certification audits

Once we selected the traceability software, we really valued the collaborative teamwork with Circularise and the prompt support they provided whenever we had specific requests.

Beyond Technology

Why DOMO Chose Circularise

DOMO's decision to partner with Circularise stems from its desire to quickly move away from manual tracking and disjointed spreadsheets towards a unified, digital-first strategy that can be expanded globally across various materials. Embracing digital solutions has provided multiple benefits, including enhanced audit efficiency and minimized error potential.

But it wasn’t just about the tech. What resonated most with DOMO was Circularise’s philosophy—an open infrastructure designed not to lock others out, but to bring an entire industry forward. In a sector where collaboration and trust are essential, this level playing field approach wasn’t just a feature; it was a necessity.

We were looking for a platform that could guarantee data confidentiality while also supporting a level playing field across the industry.

Reaching tangible impact

The use of the Circularise platform ensures more secure, digitised and easy scalable tracking of the share of sustainable materials fed into the production cycle worldwide. Here are the key results and ongoing impacts of the initiative with DOMO:

  1. Four sites certified under ISCC PLUS
  2. Portfolio diversification with certified mass balance versions of TECHNYL® and DOMAMID® product lines available globally
  3. Foundation built for traceability expansion to four additional production sites
  4. End-to-end mass balance traceability from feedstock input to polyamide resin and compound output
  5. Support for downstream customers’ climate and compliance goals

The first successful implementation was achieved in partnership with Vimar, a leader in the electrical and electronic industry. For Vimar, DOMO developed an innovative halogen-free, self-extinguishing polyamide 6. This ISCC PLUS-certified material is derived from bio-cycle raw materials, including recycled processing waste, which helps to eliminate landfill or incineration disposal.

Another major accomplishment was the launch of the new DOMAMID MBB series. This series includes PA6 base resins with various viscosities, featuring up to 69% bio content and a reduction in CO₂ emissions of up to 100% compared to virgin-based materials produced in the same facility. These materials are perfectly suited for applications in food and pharmaceutical packaging, technical and textile yarns, as well as innovative engineering plastic solutions.

Both product lines are end-to-end tracked on the Circularise platform, providing audit-ready proof of mass-balance allocation while laying a scalable foundation for future sustainable innovations.
